WHO A FATHER IS

Father, a man that God gave a huge responsibility – his wife and children.

A father is the male parent of a child or children in the family. The undisputed head of the family as God has said it. He acts as a god in the family. Takes care of the entire family, which includes himself.

Fatherhood is a great task and responsibility. And they need all the encouragement they can get.

Who is a father? A father is to the family what God is to the world and what Jesus is to the church. He is the source and sustainer. A father has some major roles in the family.

1. He is the protector of the family. He ensures that his family is safe at all times

2. He is the provider for the home. He ensures that his family does not lack anything

3. He is the leader in the home. As the leader, he guides, directs, teaches, instructs, mentors, and disciplines. He is the Lord of the home because he has been made in the nature of God.

4. He is the priest, prophet and the spiritual head of the home. He is spiritually and physically responsible for what goes on in the home. God is not happy when things go wrong in the family and he asks the father to give account of his home.

A father ought to pray for his children always because life and death lies in the power of his tongue. He must speak good words to his children all the time and what he speaks comes to pass. He must prophesy into the lives of his children and his wife to ensure their wellbeing.

Ephesians 5

Grace is needed to be a good father. That is why a father must depend on the Almighty Father who is Jehovah. A father will be a great when God is his sustainer.

2 Corinthians 12:9

A father needs the power of God to rest upon him to be a good father. Any situation he faces, as long as he makes God his source and sustainer, the grace of God will make him scale through all his expectations in Jesus’ name.
